Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Three (3) years of work experience in one of the following fields: sales, fundraising, university relations, talent acquisition/corporate recruiting, career services, event planning, or related field (student experience may be considered).
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cold calling prospects/closing sales. Experience with university talent acquisition/recruitment (employer or career services) or fundraising. Experience with technology to track and manage relationships. Experience with managing/producing virtual meetings and events through Zoom, Google Hangouts or related technology. Experience working with diverse populations. Experience delivering presentations to college/college educated audiences.
Brief Description of Duties: The Employer Relations Associate joins a high-performance employer outreach team who create and steward employer relationships for Stony Brook University, our academic and experiential programs, and diverse student population, with a focus on healthcare, non-profits, and public service. You will proactively cultivate relationships with regional and national employers for internships and full time roles, increase employer participation through direct referrals, professional engagement, and cold calling and coordinate recruitment programs connecting qualified students with employers. You thrive as part of a fast-paced, continuous motion team that strives for our personal best every day with a high level of independence, ability to prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines. A solid team member who plays for the team but still wants to be the MVP. Incumbent must have strong oral communication skills. Employer Relationship Development
- Research and actively prospect employers for recruitment through online outreach, attendance at industry events, networking, and cold calling. Enhance existing recruitment partnerships. Set and implement monthly employer prospecting and relationship management goals. Monitor and track employer engagement to meet the team employer activity/enhancement goals. Liaise with Advancement/Alumni Relations, designated departments and student organizations in support of talent pipeline initiatives. Facilitate connections between industry partners and pre-professional student groups. Contribute to Career Center Diversity Talent Pipeline Programs.
Student Engagement & Programming
- Work with pre-professional student groups to infuse industry partners into their programming. Plan and execute various recruitment events, in F2F and virtual formats, including job/internship fairs, on campus informational, meet-ups and networking activities. Events will take place in the evenings and on weekends.
Administration /Information Management
- Coordinate employer engagements, involving extensive use of Handshake to schedule and deliver (virtual & F2F). Review, approve, and tag industry-relevant opportunities received through our recruitment system, Handshake. Collect data, track and document employer activity, and develop reports using Excel, Qualtrics, PPT, & other tools.
Professional Development and Committee Involvement
- Participates in opportunities that promote their learning, growth, and development (i.e., classes, training, committees, webinars).
- Contributes to the Division of Student Affairs and Stony Brook University by attending and/or supporting events, activities, and programs sponsored by areas within and outside the Office of Student Life (i.e., campus-wide traditions, events, programs).
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
- Evening and weekend hours may be required at times.
Special Notes: This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
Essential Position: This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such may be required to report to work/remain at work even if classes are canceled, and the campus is working on limited operations in an emergency.
