BACKGROUND:The
International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future. IRC teams provide health, infrastructure, learning and economic support to people in 40 countries worldwide. The IRC also provides support to thousands of refugees resettling in 29 U.S. cities each year through housing assistance, case management and referral services, job readiness and placement, English language training, community and cultural orientation, health and wellness programs, immigration services and other community integration activities. SCOPE OFWORK:The Financial Coaching Intern will work within the Economic Empowerment Program to support the Financial Coaching Program. The Financial Coaching program provides group and 1:1 financial coaching services to clients, including assistance with creating budgets, addressing debt, building credit, increasing savings, accessing loans, opening bank accounts, and more. The Financial Coaching Intern's responsibilities may include contacting clients to schedule appointments, following up with clients on items such as loan payments and IOM status, assisting clients with loan applications, meeting with clients to complete program enrollments, teaching 1:1 or group financial literacy classes, and developing curriculum. The Financial Coaching intern will also work with IRC Dallas's Economic Empowerment Program staff to ensure that clients are receiving assistance across these service areas.
