This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will impact the development, validation and maturation of Liquid Propulsion Rocket Engine (LPRE) control algorithms and simulation models by leading various test activities in an Integrated Hardware-In-The-Loop (IHIL) environment. This role supports the development and validation of control algorithms and data collection for design V&V prior to new technology insertion on all Blue Engine programs. The IHIL team is looking for a versatile Senior Test/Mechanical engineer to achieve the long term vision of a sustained design/test effort to support rapid engine controls systems (ECS) development and ECS-Valve integration.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with customers to understand and develop requirements

  • Design, build, and operation of mechanical-hydraulic, controls, data, loading, and mechanical systems

  • Coordinate supplier activities including requests for proposals, proposal evaluations, design reviews, technical liaison, and cost & schedule performance

  • Independently run a test station and direct others in the safe operation of test stations

  • Work collaboratively with engine programs to develop roadmaps and plans for providing new test capabilities and bringing them on-line as quickly as possible

  • Hands on fabrication of test stations and load systems

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of Mechanical design, or Test Engineering experience, including sophisticated development projects within the aerospace, automotive or similar safety critical industry

  • B.S. degree, or higher, in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent

  • Knowledge and strong fundamentals in project management approaches and techniques

  • Experience designing mechanical systems (load systems/structural supports) with mechanical design software (Creo, SolidWorks)

  • Experience leading and running small teams on fast-paced projects with little direction and under minimal supervision

  • Risk management, configuration management, requirements development, and verification planning

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Master's Degree (M.S.) or higher in aerospace, systems engineering, business or a related field

  • Previous experience with aerospace control systems

  • Experience developing aerospace products from concept phase through new product introduction

  • First principles design knowledge of Hydraulic and Electrical actuation systems

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $167,088.00-$233,923.20
