Position Summary

Under general supervision, to provide assistance in implementing various pool programs and swimming instruction.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides assistant in implementing various pool programs.
  • Assist water safety instructors in teaching swim lessons.
  • Assist in preparing for community recreational activities and events in a pool setting.
  • Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Education:



  • Must be at least 14 years old and obtain a work permit.



Experience:



  • No previous experience required. Experience working with children, preferred.



Knowledge:



  • Knowledge of school policies and safety regulations, required.
  • Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures, preferred.


Skills:



  • Good communication skills, required.



Abilities:



  • Ability to be caring, understanding, and friendly towards patrons, required.
  • Ability to follow all safety rules and procedures established for work area, required.
  • Ability to read and interpret school policies and handbook, required.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and community, required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to swim. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds of materials, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include far vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud; exposure to chemicals and work in or near water.
