About the Role

Culmen is looking for all levels of Teachers to support an upcoming Health and Human Services opportunity.

These positions may require working extended hours, weekends, holidays, and being on-call.



What You'll Do in Your New Role

Lead Teacher

    Monitor classrooms to ensure developmentally appropriate environments that reflect the children's learning and growth.
  • Individualize lesson plans to meet each student's academic level.
  • Administer the initial and follow-up Academic Diagnostic Assessments and ensure correct placement of youth in classrooms.
  • Oversee the coordination of Physical Education instruction.
  • Develop individualized educational plans to report and document student's developmental progress.
  • Oversee the vocational courses and curriculums being provided.
  • Meet departmental and program deadlines to ensure contractual compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Assist with the submission of monthly, quarterly, and end of year reports.
  • Provide and facilitate information as needed for monitoring activities.
  • Adhere to budgetary limits and plan for annual expenses.
  • Oversee the planning and coordination of special educational events, including Spelling Bee, Science Fair, acculturation activities, educational outings, and Student Council Activities.
  • Assist in the evacuation of youth as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen occurrences.
  • Work independently, react to change productively, and handle other essential tasks as assigned while exercising a high level of confidentiality.

Teacher

  • Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment to ensure a positive learning experience for youth with diverse backgrounds.
  • Organize and prepare materials for daily instruction while ensuring the inventory of classroom materials.
  • Individualize lesson plans to meet each student's academic level.
  • Assist with the coordination of Physical Education instruction.
  • Develop individualized educational plans to report and document student's developmental progress.
  • Provide a vocational course and curriculum which introduces youth to career choices.
  • Meet departmental and program deadlines to ensure contractual compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of special educational events, including Spelling Bee, Science Fair, acculturation activities, Educational outings, and Student Council Activities.
  • Must assist in the evacuation of youth as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen occurrences.
  • May be asked to administer Academic Diagnostic Assessments in the absence of a Lead Teacher.
  • Work independently, react to change productively, and handle other essential tasks as assigned while exercising a high level of confidentiality.

Teacher Aid

  • Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment to ensure a positive learning experience for youth with diverse backgrounds.
  • Organize and prepare materials for daily instruction.
  • Assist with the coordination of Physical Education instruction.
  • Assist with the coordination of special educational events, including Spelling Bee, Science Fair, acculturation activities, educational outings, and Student Council Activities.
  • Identify the individual needs and preferences of youth and provide feedback to the Teacher for better instructional outcomes.
  • Enforce classroom rules to help encourage appropriate behavior.
  • Encourage youth participation in the classroom and help prepare them for the U.S. school system.
  • Support teachers in lesson planning, management, and delivery.
  • Must assist in the evacuation of youth as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen occurrences.
  • May be asked to administer Academic Diagnostic Assessments in the absence of a Lead Teacher.
  • Work independently, react to change productively, and handle other essential tasks as assigned while exercising a high level of confidentiality.


Required Qualifications

Lead Teacher

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience working with youth, preferably in an ORR setting.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (verbal and written).
  • Possess a valid Driver's License.
  • Possess a clear Tuberculosis test.
  • Ability to successfully clear a background check.
  • Ability to successfully clear a drug screening.
  • Provide immunization documentation for Tdap, Varicella, MMR, Hepatitis A and B, Varicella.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.

Teacher

  • Bachelor's degree required in the field of Education or related field.
  • Minimum of one (1) year Teaching experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience working with youth, preferably in an ORR setting.
  • Must be a certified Educator.
  • Possess a Teaching English as a Second Language/Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages certification.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (verbal and written).
  • Possess a valid Driver's License.
  • Possess a cleared Tuberculosis test.
  • Ability to successfully clear a background check.
  • Ability to successfully clear a drug screening.
  • Provide immunization documentation for Tdap, Varicella, MMR, Hepatitis A and B, Varicella.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
