JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Grozinger Lab at Penn State University is seeking a part-time Pollinator Health and Ecology Research Support member. This position will involve working with multiple species of bees and possibly other insects, assisting faculty, staff, and graduate students with research plant care, observations, experiments, and assays, and collecting and interpreting data in greenhouse, laboratory, or field settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in pollinator health and behavior.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the care and maintenance of research plants and experimental setups
  • Conduct observations and experiments involving multiple species of bees and other insects
  • Assist with laboratory assays and data collection
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and graduate students on research projects
  • Maintain accurate records of experimental data and assist with data interpretation
  • Help maintain a clean and organized work environment in the greenhouse, laboratory, and field settings

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with bees or other insects, or in a laboratory is preferred along with a strong interest in pollinator health and behavior
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to work in greenhouse, laboratory, and field settings
  • Attention to detail and the ability to follow experimental protocols

Hours: Part-time, flexible hours (10-20 hours per week)

This job may require that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
