1st Shift Maintenance Technician | Morristown, TN

McNeilus Steel, Inc. is accepting applications for a new team member to join our team as a Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance team schedule is typically a standard 40-hour week, working Monday-Thursday, 8:00 am - 6:00 pm, but may work overtime if required. Some evening and weekend shifts may be common during times of expansion and downtime of vital mechanical operations.

Nature of Work

The Maintenance team provides routine maintenance and repair for machines, mechanical equipment, buildings, electrical systems, and numerous equipment and structures throughout the warehouse and production areas. Maintenance workers are responsible for troubleshooting and fixing any faults or damages to both interior and exterior structures and equipment.

Duties/ Responsibilities



  • Complete routine maintenance of building structures
  • Troubleshoot maintenance problems for a variety of equipment, including, but not limited to:

    • Non-mechanical equipment like storage racks, equipment protection devices, tarps, etc.
    • Cranes, machines, and other mechanical equipment


  • Perform routine inspections of machines and equipment to ensure proper operation and prevent potential malfunctions or deteriorations
  • Assist with electrical installation or repair projects as requested
  • Fabricate steel products for in-house use when needed
  • Must operate crane and forklift skillfully and safely
  • Learn, understand, and comply with OSHA requirements, company safety rules, and health policies at all times, working according to good safety practices as posted, instructed, and discussed
  • Use all safety devices, equipment, and PPE as directed and provided for protection
  • Performs other duties as instructed and assigned


Qualifications



  • Ability to logically and effectively resolve problems as they arise
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of computer operations and applications
  • Forklift and crane-certified
  • Ability to troubleshoot, work well independently, and as a team
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in fluent English
