The principal radiologic technologist will assist with highly specialized diagnostic and therapeutic interventional radiology procedures and perform CT examinations. This incumbent must have experience in both IR and CT and have the ability to move between modalities on a frequent basis. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining a high degree of accuracy and an awareness of all radiation and patient safety issues involved with any invasive and/or diagnostic exam. Demonstrates a thorough understanding and working knowledge of normal anatomy, abnormal anatomy and physiology, radiation safety, interventional supplies, and equipment operation. Recognizes and resolves equipment operations, problems, and discrepancies. Anticipates patient needs and concerns and determines the appropriate care needed. Uses professional judgment and critical thinking when performing procedures. Performs calmly in stressful situations and interacts with radiologists, clinicians, and peers in a cooperative, harmonious manner for maximum effectiveness.
