Overview: Fredrikson is seeking a Workday HRIS Product Owner to join our Human Resources Operations team. This position serves as the firm's hands-on technical owner for Workday, with a primary focus on Workday Security and Core Human Capital Management (HCM) configuration. In this role, you will be responsible for configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing Workday functionality to support secure, reliable, and efficient HR and payroll operations. You will work closely with Human Resources, Payroll, Finance, Technology, and other business partners to identify opportunities for improvement, resolve complex system issues, and develop scalable solutions that support the firm's evolving needs. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in Workday Security and Core HCM, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and the confidence to independently manage technical solutions from initial requirements through configuration, testing, and deployment. Experience with Workday reporting and integrations is highly valued, and Workday Payroll experience is a strong plus. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Workday professional who enjoys hands-on technical work, solving complex challenges, and making a meaningful impact on how the firm utilizes its Workday platform. Location & Work Environment: This position is open to candidates interested in a hybrid schedule based in Minneapolis, MN, or remote work from approved U.S. locations. Please note: * Remote employees must be willing and able to travel to our Minneapolis office multiple times throughout the year for in-person meetings, collaboration, and other business needs. * All candidates must be comfortable with the travel expectations associated with this position. * Fredrikson does not provide relocation assistance for this position. Key Responsibilities: * Serve as the firm's hands-on technical owner for Workday, with primary responsibility for Workday Security and Core HCM configuration, maintenance, and optimization. * Configure and maintain Workday Security, including security groups, domain and business process security policies, role assignments, access permissions, segmented access, and related security controls. * Conduct security reviews, support auditing activities, and evaluate downstream impacts of security changes to ensure appropriate system access and data protection. * Configure and optimize Core HCM functionality, including business processes, organizations, staffing models, worker data, condition rules, approvals, and notifications. * Independently investigate and troubleshoot complex Workday issues, identify root causes, evaluate downstream impacts, and implement effective, sustainable solutions. * Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Workday reports, calculated fields, EIBs, and integrations, collaborating with Technology and external vendors on more complex integration needs. * Partner with Payroll to troubleshoot system issues, evaluate configuration and integration impacts, and support changes affecting payroll processing and related functions. * Develop and execute test plans, including end-to-end and regression testing, to ensure system changes are accurate, secure, and functioning as intended. * Support Workday release management, system enhancements, change control, and production deployments. * Maintain appropriate documentation of system configurations, security changes, business processes, and technical solutions. * Partner with Human Resources, Payroll, Finance, Technology, and firm leadership to understand business needs and recommend scalable Workday solutions. * Maintain and prioritize Workday enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives, with an emphasis on security, data integrity, automation, and user experience. * Provide responsive, high-quality technical support and consultation, communicating complex system issues and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Our Ideal Candidate Will Have: * Five or more years of hands-on Workday administration or consulting experience, including independent system configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and production support. * Demonstrated expertise in Workday Security configuration, including domain and business process security policies, security groups, role-based access, and security testing. * Strong hands-on experience configuring Workday Core HCM and business processes. * Proven ability to independently investigate and resolve complex technical issues involving Workday configuration, security, data, business processes, reporting, or integrations. * Experience evaluating downstream system impacts, developing test scenarios, conducting regression testing, and documenting technical changes. * Ability to independently manage technical solutions from business requirements and design through configuration, testing, deployment, and post-production support. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and develop scalable, long-term solutions. * Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. * A commitment to delivering responsive, high-quality service while managing competing priorities and working independently. Preferred Qualifications: * Hands-on experience with Workday reporting and integrations, including calculated fields, custom reports, EIBs, Workday Studio, connectors, or APIs. * Workday Payroll configuration, troubleshooting, or production-support experience. * Experience with additional Workday modules such as Benefits, Compensation, Absence, Time Tracking, Talent, Recruiting, Performance, or Learning. * Experience supporting, stabilizing, or optimizing a Workday environment following implementation. * Workday Pro or other advanced Workday training or certifications in Security, HCM, Reporting, Integrations, or Payroll. * Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. * Experience within a law firm, professional services organization, consulting environment, or similarly complex organization. Benefits: Our comprehensive benefits options include medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, short- and long-term disability, employee resource benefits (inclusive of counseling, coaching, and caregiving guidance), paid parental leave, parenting classes, pre-tax parking and transportation options, and much more!
