Description

Willow Rock is a 16-bed Psychiatric Health Facility in Alameda County for adolescents 12-17 years old who are experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Medical Records Coordinator performs clerical functions related to the medical record such as assembling, recording, processing, and preparing reports.

Shifts Available:

Full-Time | DAYS | Shifts: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM | Days: Monday - Friday

Expected starting wage is $25.09. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and is subject to union membership requirements upon hire. Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges. The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:



  • Six (6) months of experience in a medical setting
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • If position requires CPR, First Aid, and CPI, must receive training within 30 days of employment and remain current on those trainings throughout employment
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certified on date of employment or within 60 days of employment and maintain current certification throughout employment
  • All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification. If the position requires driving, valid driver's license, a motor vehicle clearance and proof of auto insurance is required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Demonstrates the Telecare mission, purpose, values, and beliefs in everyday language and contact with the internal and external stakeholders
  • Performs tasks correctly and according to policies and procedures
  • Performs the following medical record tasks, as assigned:


    • Prepares Client Data System Reports
    • Assists in the processing of admissions and discharges of members served
    • Assists with the preparation of the daily census
    • Provides backup for the Medical Records Technician
    • Abstracts information to County via computer


  • Performs the following clerical tasks:


    • Assists with the preparation of monthly reports
    • Processes and photocopies requested medical records information
    • Inventories forms and orders supplies for the Medical Records Department, as assigned
    • Completes general and statistical typing
    • Files and collates
    • Assists with studies and audits
    • Provides backup for the Medical Records Technician, as directed




Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted and/or changed at the discretion of management.

SKILLS



  • Ability to learn medical terminology
  • Ability to type 50 WPM
  • Ability to learn computer systems, including computer applications such as Word and Excel Medical Records Coordinator8.8.2018 Page 2
  • Ability to learn ICD-10
  • The ability to read, write, and speak English is crucial, as is the willingness to work with mentally impaired adults



PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, and lift and carry items weighing 25 pounds or less as well as to frequently reach, twist, squat, kneel and do simple grasping occasionally. The position requires manual repetitions, deviations and dexterity.
