Title: Sourcing Manager

Schedule: 2-3 days/week onsite

Role Overview:

Client is seeking an experienced Sourcing Manager with a strong background in finished-goods sourcing and new product development within consumer, commercial, industrial, or related product environments.

This person must have experience owning the sourcing lifecycle from product concept and engineering drawings through supplier identification, RFQ, cost analysis, design-for-manufacturing review, prototyping, tooling, product validation, pilot production, and full commercialization.

The key distinction for this role is that client is looking for someone with true sourcing experience - not someone whose background is primarily purchasing, procurement administration, raw materials, indirect goods, or PO management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead sourcing strategy for finished goods and contract-manufactured products.
  • Identify and qualify new domestic and international manufacturers.
  • Manage supplier selection from initial sourcing through commercialization.
  • Run RFQs and analyze supplier proposals, pricing, and commercial terms.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, MSAs, incentives, and supplier agreements.
  • Develop and manage landed-cost models.
  • Partner closely with Engineering and R&D during new product development.
  • Support design-for-manufacturing reviews, prototyping, tooling, validation, and pilot production.
  • Manage supplier quality, capacity, lead times, packaging, logistics, and production launches.
  • Conduct supplier, competitor, geographic, and industry analysis.
  • Develop sourcing strategies that improve cost, supplier performance, and product competitiveness.
  • Manage supplier relationships and resolve performance or commercial issues.
  • Support new product launch schedules and cost targets.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to junior sourcing team members.

Must-Have Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 8+ years of sourcing experience.
  • Strong global sourcing experience.
  • Finished-goods or contract-manufacturing sourcing experience.
  • Experience sourcing complete products rather than only raw materials or individual components.
  • Experience identifying and qualifying new manufacturers.
  • Strong new product development experience.
  • Experience taking products from concept through commercialization.
  • Strong RFQ, negotiation, supplier management, and cost-analysis experience.
  • Experience working directly with overseas and domestic contract manufacturers.
  • Ability to partner closely with Engineering/R&D.

Preferred Background:

  • Consumer products.
  • Commercial products.
  • Tools and equipment.
  • Electrical products.
  • Industrial products.
  • Hardware.
  • Contract manufacturing.
  • New product introduction / commercialization environments.

Preferred Education / Certifications:

  • Master's degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration.
  • CPSM or similar procurement/supply chain certification.
  • 12-14 years of experience preferred.

What They Do NOT Want:

  • Raw-material sourcing only.
  • Indirect procurement.
  • Purchasing-focused candidates.
  • PO management / buyer backgrounds.
  • Candidates who only manage existing suppliers.
  • Candidates without experience identifying and onboarding new manufacturers.
  • Candidates who have only sourced individual components and have not owned finished-goods sourcing.
  • Candidates without meaningful new product development experience.
