Job Summary: The Field Services Technician 3 installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs electronic equipment at field locations to support reliable system operation. This role performs diagnostics, system checks, equipment adjustments, technical documentation, and customer support while working independently and collaborating with engineering personnel, subcontractors, customer agencies, and internal teams to resolve field issues and minimize downtime. The position may also serve as a technical resource to team members by providing guidance, helping coordinate work, and supporting problem resolution and process improvement. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Install, initiate operation, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronic equipment at field locations. Diagnose, rework, repair, and maintain equipment using hand tools, test equipment, electronic measuring devices, schematics, wiring diagrams, functional block diagrams, and maintenance manuals. Interpret schematics, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to support diagnostics, repairs, and equipment maintenance. Perform system checks to ensure device readiness and continued operation. Adjust, align, modify, or recommend changes to circuitry, components, equipment, or installation specifications to meet operating standards and improve assembly and maintenance efficiency. Consult with engineering personnel to resolve unusual or complex system operation and maintenance issues. Build cable assemblies and Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) as required. Perform site surveys for change notices and coordinate or supervise equipment installation at field sites as needed. Collaborate with technicians, subcontractors, customer agencies, and internal teams to resolve field issues, support long-term projects, and minimize downtime. Interface professionally with customer agencies during operational and performance meetings to review equipment and service trends, provide support, and maintain strong client relationships. Respond to customer inquiries, complaints, and requests with professionalism and clarity. Prepare technical reports, charts, and graphs to document operating characteristics, performance trends, and deviations from design specifications for engineering review. Maintain accurate records and logs of maintenance activities in accordance with contractual requirements. Serve as a technical resource and point of escalation for team members to support issue resolution and process improvement. May assume a lead role on assigned tasks or projects to help coordinate work, support team members, and resolve issues as needed. Mentor less experienced field technicians to support task completion, problem resolution, and skill development. Perform general maintenance, technical, and semi-technical tasks not limited to electronics. Comply with all safety policies and procedures, including DOT regulations for safety-sensitive roles. Minimum Job Requirements
Minimum of 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in electronic equipment maintenance and repair or related field. Associate degree in electronics or related technical field, or equivalent technical school training is preferred. Proficiency in basic computer operations and common software applications. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in the field. Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documentation. Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and working in challenging environments (e.g., crowded public stations, extreme temperatures, noisy areas, extended standing, and stair climbing). Flexibility to work on-call, weekends, or holidays as needed. Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required. Cubic Pay Range: $31.93 - $37.00 + benefits.
The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
