Free applications are available on our website at https://wilmette.gov/Recruitment. The Wilmette Police Department is collaborating with National Testing Network (NTN). NTN provides applicants with flexible testing options, allowing candidates to complete the examination remotely or attend an in-person testing location at a time that works best for their schedule. Individuals interested in joining the Wilmette Police Department must create an NTN account to complete the required testing and upload all required documentation to the portal to be considered for a position at the Wilmette Police Department. Compensation and Benefits: The 2027 salary range for entry-level police officer is $95,718 - $128,545. The Village offers an excellent benefits package that includes participation in the Police Pension Fund, medical, dental and vision coverage, life insurance, and voluntary participation in a deferred compensation program (457 plan). Additional benefits include vacation days, holiday time, overtime, tuition reimbursement, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, specialty stipends, and an employee assistance program. Entry Level Requirements Citizen of the U.S. or legally authorized to work in the United States At least 21 and under 35 years of age At the time of filing the application, each entry-level candidate shall have a bachelors degree in any discipline from an accredited college or university, or a candidate may be placed on the eligible register and ultimately hired by the Village, prior to receipt of a bachelors degree, when an internship for credits can be completed at the police academy and such internship is the only remaining credits needed to achieve and obtain a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Valid drivers license Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position of a police officer.
