Job Summary

We are seeking a Data Center Technician with foundational experience in structured cabling and data center environments. This contract-to-hire opportunity is ideal for individuals who have gained hands-on field experience and are ready to expand their technical skills while working under the guidance of experienced team members. The technician will support the installation, maintenance, and testing of structured cabling systems, infrastructure hardware, and network equipment in a data center environment while adhering to industry standards and safety requirements.

Job Responsibilities




  • Perform structured cabling installations, including fiber optic and copper cable rough-in, routing, dressing, termination, and testing.



  • Install and support low-voltage cabling systems, including fiber optic and Cat6 cabling, in a data center environment.



  • Rack and stack network equipment, including server installations and rack elevations.



  • Install infrastructure hardware, including ladder racks, fiber trays, cabinets, and related support systems.



  • Read and interpret basic blueprints, installation standards, and project documentation.



  • Assist with outside plant (OSP) fiber installations entering data center facilities.



  • Receive, organize, and inventory project materials.



  • Assemble hardware components and prepare equipment for installation.



  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all established safety procedures.



  • Communicate effectively with team members, project leads, and supervisors regarding project progress and job site needs.




Job Requirements




  • Minimum of 6 months of commercial low-voltage or structured cabling experience.



  • Experience working in data center environments preferred.



  • High School Diploma or GED required.



  • Familiarity with fiber optic and copper cabling, cable termination methods, and basic testing equipment.



  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.



  • ES3 or ES7 Electrical License preferred.



  • Must be comfortable working on ladders, personnel lifts, and in confined spaces.



  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds.



  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.



  • Must provide basic hand tools, including:




    • Multi-bit screwdriver



    • Electrical snips



    • Punch-down tool



    • Pliers



    • Tape measure



    • Flashlight



    • Tool pouch



    • Steel toe or composite toe work boots






Education




  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)




  • Schedule: First Shift, Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, with overtime as needed.



  • Travel: Local travel only.
