The Opportunity:

The Senior Writer, Advancement & Partnerships plays a pivotal role in developing persuasive, donor-centered content that drives philanthropic engagement and supports UCF's strategic fundraising priorities. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Advancement Communications & Marketing, this position is responsible for shaping high-level messaging strategies, crafting impactful donor narratives, and developing major gift proposals that inspire meaningful contributions.

Classification Title: Writer III

Responsibilities:


  • Lead Content Development - Craft persuasive fundraising proposals, impact reports, case statements, and high-touch donor communications to support UCF's philanthropic priorities.

  • Oral Storytelling Alignment - Produces clear, cohesive scripts for alumni events, donor-focused events, among others, that reinforce key messaging and strengthen storytelling across division.

  • Shape Messaging Strategies - Develop compelling narratives for high-profile fundraising initiatives, collaborating with senior leadership and development teams to ensure donor resonance.

  • Conceptualize Big Ideas - Drive creative strategy for fundraising campaigns, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and campaign themes.

  • Distill Complex Information - Translate academic and programmatic details into engaging, accessible content that connects donors with UCF's mission.

  • Create High-Impact Presentations - Develop polished PowerPoint decks that effectively communicate fundraising priorities, impact metrics, and donor recognition strategies.

  • Maintain Brand Consistency - Ensure all written materials reflect UCF's voice, branding, and strategic objectives, collaborating with internal teams and external agencies for consistency.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Proven experience in fundraising communications, philanthropy writing, or nonprofit storytelling.

  • Skilled in writing personadriven scripts that align tone, voice, and intent for varied stakeholders.

  • Expertise in writing major gift proposals, case statements, and impact reports.

  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and presentation design for high-impact fundraising decks.

  • Ability to develop persuasive, donor-centric messaging for high-profile fundraising campaigns.

  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines.

  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience partnering with senior leadership, development officers, and creative team.


Special Instructions to the Applicants:


  • The anticipated salary for a well-qualified candidate is $72,583 - $80,648.

  • Advancement and Partnerships values the unique contributions that each team member brings to our division. The final determination of a successful candidate's starting salary will vary based on several factors, including education and relevant experience. The anticipated pay scale indicated for this position generally applies to candidates who meet the minimum requirements and several of the preferred qualifications outlined above. All offers are contingent on successful background and reference screens.
