The Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute (ACTRI) is an NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) institution that provides the infrastructure to support high-quality and innovative translational research. ACTRI's vision is to translate scientificdiscoveries into improved health by delivering education, training, and infrastructure for clinical research in the San Diego area and beyond. The Translational Research Hub (TRH) fosters translational research community collaborations by educating clinicians, researchers, and trainees in biospecimen acquisition, processing, biobanking, and multi-omics technologies. TRH provides study design consultations for investigators, biobanking services, genomics-optimized sample processing, data management and bioinformatics support. TRH offers services in data analysis and biological interpretation as well as vouchers to support early-stage projects. The Computational Biologist provides advanced computational genomics, bioinformatics support and data management support to the Translational Research Hub. Applies advanced computational, computer science, data science, and CI software research and development principles, with relevant domain science knowledge where applicable, to perform highly complex research, technology and software development which involve in-depth evaluation of variable factors impacting medium to large projects of broad scope and complexities. Designs, develops, and optimizes components / tools for major HPC / data science / CI projects. Resolves complex research and technology development and integration issues. Gives technical presentations to associated research and technology groups and management. Evaluates new hardware and software technologies for advancing complex HPC, data science, CI projects. Assists in the design, implementation and recommends new hardware and software technologies for advancing complex HPC, data science, CI projects. Acts as a project manager and may lead a team of research and technical staff. This position will focus on the analysis of whole genome, exome, transcriptome and epigenome datasets at the ACTRI Center for Computational Biology & Bioinformatics. The incumbent will collaborate with UCSD faculty and investigators by performing RNA-seq (bulk, single-cell, spatial), ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, and methylation analyses at the Center for Computational Biology & Bioinformatics. The incumbent is responsible for managing projects and performing analysis of next generation sequencing datasets, biological interpretation of analysis results, interfacing with faculty and investigators, and developing and implementing data analysis methods using cloud computing and high performance computing. The incumbent will additionally be responsible for all data management activities of the Translational Research Hub, supporting the ACTRI Biobank. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
