The VP of Operations is responsible for the overall operational performance, growth, and profitability of the division. This role provides strategic and hands-on leadership across paving and construction operations, ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget while meeting revenue and margin targets. This position partners closely with the local President and leadership to align divisional operations with enterprise goals while serving as the operational leader for the business. Additionally, this position is responsible for identifying, developing, and maintaining client relationships to drive revenue growth within the construction and paving industry. This position serves as the primary relationship owner for an assigned group of client accounts, with responsibility for retention, growth, and strategic business development. The ideal candidate understands the full construction process - from bidding and estimating to project execution - and can effectively communicate the company's capabilities to clients. This role requires excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels of a client's organization. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities: Operational Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and execute the division's operational strategy in alignment with company objectives and growth plans.
- Provide visible, decisive leadership to managers, superintendents, and field teams, fostering accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a key operational liaison between the division and executive leadership.
- Participate in bid reviews and preconstruction meetings to align client expectations with project scope and company capabilities.
- Present proposals, negotiate contracts, and close deals with new and existing clients.
- Engage with clients regularly to understand their upcoming projects, challenges, and long-term needs.
Day-to-Day Operations Management
- Oversee all daily paving and construction operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, accurately, on schedule, and within budget.
- Lead the Daily Operations Calsl to align field, office, and leadership teams.
Financial Oversight & Job Reconciliation
- Support revenue and profitability goals through effective operational planning and execution.
- Review and reconcile foreman job costing information to ensure accuracy.
- Analyze operational and financial reports to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Scheduling & Resource Coordination
- Review and communicate daily schedule updates to maintain operational alignment.
- Reschedule work as needed due to weather, staffing, equipment, or customer needs.
- Maintain accurate material pricing and operational data in company systems.
Customer Experience & Business Support
- Ensure a high-quality customer experience through proactive communication and timely issue resolution.
- Log, schedule, and oversee Customer Service issues to ensure prompt closeout.
- Represent the company professionally with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and partners.
- Support business development efforts by identifying operational efficiencies and capacity to support growth.
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all operations.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Address safety incidents, compliance issues, and operational risks promptly and effectively.
- Oversee fleet management, equipment maintenance, and operational readiness.

- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of construction or paving experience, including senior operational leadership.
- Strong knowledge of commercial asphalt operations and construction processes.
- Demonstrated experience managing operational budgets, job costing, and revenue recognition.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence both field and executive teams.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, fleet management, and equipment maintenance.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel as required.
