As Highway Vehicle Operators, you will play a vital role in maintaining the efficiency and safety of our transportation network. This position involves meticulous operation and coordination of highway vehicles supporting railroad activities, ensuring seamless logistical operations across our expansive rail system. By joining our team as a Clerk, you will become an essential part of BNSF's commitment to delivering goods reliably and safely across the nation, underscoring the critical importance of this role to our railroad's success.

This is a full-time(40hrs/wk) position, subject to overtime and alternate shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Travel is 35% to 50% of the time.

Training for this position is company-paid on-the-job training.

Key responsibilities may include:

Operating company trucks, trailers, tractor trailers, and various material-handling equipment, such as forklifts, stackers, and delivery vehicles.

Maintaining accurate driver logs as required by safety regulations.

Ordering, receiving, stocking, dispersing, loading, and unloading materials, as well as maintaining necessary documentation.

Daily work is conducted in a safety sensitive environment where the working conditions can include diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet), walking and performing work on uneven surfaces, working around loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Able to work now and in the future without BNSF's assistance (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status).
  • I am at least 21 years of age or will be by the anticipated start date listed in the job description.
  • Possess a valid ClassACommercial Driver's License (CDL) with HAZMAT, combination vehicle and air brake endorsements, orabilityto obtain one within 60 days of employment
  • Availableto report for duty at the designated work location.
  • Able to work safely in the above working conditions.
  • Able to work the above shift/hours.
  • Able to meet the above typing requirement.
  • Abilityto read, write and communicate (speak, hear,and understand) English.
  • Abilityto lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to visually distinguish colors - red, blue, green, yellow, and lunar (clear light)
  • Ability to differentiate between verbal and non-verbal sounds (signals, alarms, etc.) and discriminate (comprehend) verbal communication in the work environment.
  • Abilityto learn to identify, interpret and use hand signals from near and far and visually judge the speedand distance of moving objects.
  • Abilityto perform basic functions on a personal computer (PC)
  • Able to use handsand hand toolsto perform activities involving holding, grasping,turning, and pulling.
  • Ability tooccasionallyclimb ladders and on/off equipment.
  • Abilitytobend, walk, stand and sitforseveral hourswith breaks.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment required for the job in a safe manner.

Union membership is with the Transportation Communications Union (TCU) and union dues are required per union agreement.
