Position Summary:
The Filling and Packaging Operator II is responsible for more advanced setup and operation of liquid filling and packaging lines, including troubleshooting and performing complex mechanical adjustments. They ensure compliance with quality standards, maintain detailed production records, and assist in training new operators. HOURS: 2pm - 10:30pm Monday - Friday + overtime as needed *Hours are subject to change based on Union bid system PAY: $24.24 + $0.75 shift differential & bonus LOCATION: 7405 Page Ave. St. Louis, MO HIRE TYPE: Direct, full time, union.
What You'll Do:
- Daily set up and operation of the complete filling and packaging line, consisting of thebottle in-feed, unscrambler, labeler, bottle filler, bottle capper or plugger, cap torquer, Videojet code dater,check weigher, bar coder, case sealer, and other equipment and conveyors associated with the line.
- Responsible for notifying supervisor or other authorized personnel of the need for packaging supplies or othermaterials for the packaging line.
- Responsible for correct hose hookups and operation of control panels which control the flow of materials tothe packaging line.
- Meet production schedules as outlined by supervision and for keeping written records asrequired.
- Under the direction and monitoring of department supervisor is responsible for the training of a replacementoperator.
- Is responsible for set up and minor maintenance of all filling line equipment and will assist Maintenance asnecessary.
- Must be capable of performing proper palletization of finished or unfinished products and storing them in theproper place as designated.
- Must exercise extreme caution in order to not damage other material or property while operating movingequipment and must at all times exercise extreme caution for the safety of other employees.
- Responsible for the proper filling, weighing, capping, sealing, casing labeling and coding of all products, including powders, liquids, solids, creams, lotions, and pastes.
- Responsible for the setup and adjustment of equipment when changing over various size containers on the filling lines.
- Adjust of weight for various size containers on the filling lines as needed.
- Turn in a written/electronic record of daily production along with other appropriate documentation as required by management (i.e. cGMP and ISO procedures).
- Keep equipment and surrounding work area clean at all times.
- Marking containers of hazardous waste, such as Cal Stat washout liquid, etc., as "Hazardous Waste".
Skills, Abilities, and Experience:
Required:
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, safety warning labels, and machine instruction manuals.
- Basic math, writing and data entry skills.
Preferred:
- 2+ years of experience working with liquid filling machinery, pumps, valves, piping and cGMP's desirable.
- Previous experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment.
Other:
- May be expected to move, carry, and lift approximately 60 pounds. May be expected to climb heights ofapproximately10 feet. Stand for long periods of time.
- Good hand/eye coordination. Good peripheral vision, manual dexterity, able to read scales, dials and gages
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required.
- Equipment listed below (Specific Job Requirements) may be used as needed to assist in these RequiredCompetencies.
- Specific Job Requirements: Automatic liquid filling machine, pumps, filters, scales, sealer, capper, valves, captorquer, hoses, videojet coding equipment and monitoring components to the line, monitoring all liquid fillingline equipment, make hook ups from different lines, routine mechanical adjustments to filling line equipmentand during line change over.
- Performs necessary quality and inventory control data gathering and input in either written or electronicformats.
- Ability to work minimal supervision, good communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay rate for this opportunity is $24.24/hour. This position is eligible for bonus participation. Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.
