Job Summary

We areseekinga compassionate, qualified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join ourHematologic Malignancy and Cellular Therapy outpatientteamto carefor patient with Multiple Myeloma going throughStem Cell Transplant, CAR-Ttherapyandpatients with MGUS.The ideal candidate has internal medicine skills and oncology experience. Job Duties & Responsibilities



  • Promote and maintain high standards of patient care throughout the continuum of cancer diagnosis.
  • Elicit detailed and accurate patient histories and perform throughphysical examinations.
  • Order appropriate diagnostic imaging and tests to determine medical and post treatment diagnoses, patient conditions, treatment toxicities.
  • Formulate appropriate treatment plans with critical thinking skills and high-levelclinicaljudgement includingprescribing appropriate medications.
  • Chart patient progress maintaining detailed and accurate health records
  • Participatein clinical research projectsand understand the importance ofdocumentingtoxicities and data collection.
  • Communication among multi-disciplinary teamsto support patient care.
  • Collaborating, supporting and building strong relationships with supervising,back-upsupervisingphysicians,APP colleagues, and team members.
  • Participate inthe educationof patients, family members,new staff,studentsand other learners.
  • See scheduled and unscheduled patients.
  • Perform procedures including:
  • Bone Marrow Biopsies
  • Lumbar Puncture with and without intrathecal chemotherapy
  • Ommaya Access with and without intrathecal chemotherapy
  • Punch skin biopsy with simple suture.
  • Attend program required meetings.
  • Maintain up to date clinical and professional knowledge via approved CME.
  • Protect patient confidentiality, maintain ethics and abide by North Carolina laws and Duke Health System policies.
  • Maintain institutional requirements for compliance.

Job Eligibility Requirements

Education



  • Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Physician Assistants: Work requires completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.


Certification



  • Physician Assistant Certification
  • Nurse Practitioner Licensure and Certification
  • ACLS preferred


  • BLS required.


License



  • Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure & NP approval to practice in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required.
  • Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. BLS required.
  • DEA licensure with full prescriptive authority required.


Experience



  • 1+ years of APP experience preferred
