Responsibilities
University Behavioral Center, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), is committed to providing intensive mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults as well as detox and substance abuse programs for adults. Our mental health facility provides safe and effective inpatient treatment to assist individuals in leading more productive and fulfilling lives. The facility is located on a beautiful 14-acre campus in Orlando, Florida, and includes 112 licensed beds. Previous experience in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program is required. Overview of Position - Step-Down Navigator The Step-Down Navigator plays a critical role in ensuring patients transition successfully to the appropriate continuum of care following inpatient treatment. This position blends clinical coordination with business development responsibilities to support patient engagement in outpatient programs such as Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP). The Step-Down Navigator meets with eligible patients to educate them on the benefits of continuing treatment after discharge and assists in connecting them to outpatient programs. In addition to supporting clinical care transitions, this role actively promotes UBC's outpatient services, helps increase program participation, and contributes to patient satisfaction initiatives. The Step-Down Navigator collaborates closely with clinical teams, business development, utilization review, and outpatient departments to identify eligible patients and facilitate smooth transitions to step-down levels of care. This role requires strong relationship-building, patient engagement, and communication skills, as well as an understanding of inpatient workflows and discharge planning processes. Qualifications Education: Required: High School Diploma. Bachelor's degree preferred in social services or patient care related fields. Experience: Minimum two (2) years' clinical experience in an inpatient psychiatric/mental health setting. Licensure: Licensure and Certification: Current CPR, Physical and Verbal Crisis Intervention Certification. Training may be obtained during new hire orientation.
