This internship position is a time-limited, temporary position with a start date and orientation on September 7th, 2026. The total number of hours that an intern can work during this timeframe is 250 hours.
The WellZone Intern will gain hands-on experience within a medically integrated fitness facility supporting wellness programming, cancer rehabilitation services, and member engagement initiatives. The intern will assist with the Get Real and Heel cancer rehabilitation program, contribute to program development and marketing efforts, and support day-to-day fitness center operations. This internship is ideal for students pursuing careers in exercise science, kinesiology, rehabilitation, or healthcare wellness programming who are interested in exercise prescription for special populations and healthcare-based fitness operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the implementation and support of the Get Real and Heel cancer rehabilitation program.
  • Support fitness assessments, member orientations, and exercise instruction for medical fitness participants.
  • Assist in developing marketing materials and promotional content for wellness and fitness programs.
  • Contribute ideas for new programming, member engagement initiatives, and wellness offerings.
  • Observe and assist with exercise prescription and modifications for individuals recently completing chemotherapy or radiation treatment.
  • Support Silver Sneakers and other active aging group exercise programs through participant assistance and class preparation.
  • Collaborate with wellness staff on special projects and daily operational needs.

Education:

  • Required: Must be in process of a college-level degree in a related field and a student in good standing.
  • Junior, senior, or graduate student pursuing a degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Promotion, Public Health, or a related field.

Experience:

    • Strong interest in medical fitness, cancer rehabilitation, wellness programming, or healthcare operations.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Organized, dependable, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities.
    • Ability to work compassionately with diverse populations and maintain professionalism in a healthcare setting.
