Job Description:

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Senior Aircraft Electrical Technician to join our H145 FAL team based in Columbus, MS.

You will be part of the team to perform work as Electrical installer in the build-up and fabrication, repair, replacement of aircraft electrical/electronic components and systems in the manufacture, maintenance or refurbishing of aircraft and function check of components to verify proper functioning of components and systems.

Airbus is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner (per DoDI 1322.29). This 180-day program allows transitioning service members to leverage their military technical expertise in a high-precision aerospace environment.

SkillBridge Eligibility:

  • Active-duty service member within 180 days of separation.

  • Written Commander (O-4 or above) authorization.

  • Must have current work authorization for U.S. positions.

Your working environment:

On the eastern border of Mississippi you'll find Columbus, home to our Helicopter manufacturing and assembly lines and Center of Excellence for the entire North America region. It's here that we produce the UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army in addition to the H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.

Your challenges:

  • Apply the basic techniques and procedures of electrical installation.

  • Read and follow detailed plans, diagrams and different standards in the fabrication of wire harnesses and electrical components.

  • Lay-in route wires in aircraft, tying, lacing and apply appropriate anti-chaff protection.

  • Install solder shields, splices, daisy chains and different electronic components such as resistors, capacitors and diodes etc...

Your boarding pass:

  • Minimum six (6) years of aviation electrical experience.

  • Current A&P license is a plus but not required.

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Citizenship:

  • US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license)

Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite or remote: 98% Onsite

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings, able to see and read wire numbers. Daily

  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Daily

  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Daily

  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts. Daily

  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 60lbs/27kgs. Daily

  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 60lbs/27kgs. Daily

  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull equipment and tools. Daily

  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. Daily

  • Squatting / Kneeling: Must be able to bend, stoop, and squat. Must be able to move about freely in areas with moving aircraft and parts; work in areas where exposure to chemicals and fumes will occur. Daily

  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor. Daily

  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. Several times yearly.

  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Daily

  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site

  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.

Target Military Backgrounds:

  • Aircraft Electrical & Environmental Systems: Experts in power generation, distribution, and environmental control systems.

  • Aviation Electrician's Mate: Responsible for all electrical power systems, lighting, and flight controls.

  • Aviation Electronics Technician: Focused on radar, communications, and integrated avionics (highly relevant for wire-harness troubleshooting).

  • Aircraft Electrician: Maintains electrical systems on rotary-wing (Apache, Black Hawk) and fixed-wing platforms. (Formerly 68F).

  • Aircraft Electrical Systems Technician: (e.g., 6332, 6336, 6337). Specialized by airframe (Osprey, Harrier, F-35) but all share core electrical expertise.

  • Avionics Electrical Technician: Handles power, navigation, and flight control systems on rescue and patrol aircraft.
