REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES

Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals office is seeking qualified candidates for an Energy Chief Code Compliance Officer.

This senior-level technical and regulatory position is responsible for ensuring uniform enforcement of the Florida Building Code - Energy Conservation Volume and related local amendments throughout Broward County. This position plays a critical leadership role in advancing energy-efficiency standards and maintaining consistent code application across all municipal jurisdictions in Broward County. This position is essential in maintaining the integrity of Broward County's enhanced code enforcement structure and ensuring consistent application of stringent certification and inspection standards.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity within one of Florida's most rigorous and respected local code oversight systems. The selected candidate will directly influence energy compliance standards across 31 municipalities and Broward County to help ensure safe, sustainable, and consistent construction practices.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the enforcement of the Florida Building Code - Energy Conservation Volume

or

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a certified energy rater pursuant to Florida Statutes
  • Experience in construction and inspection activities related to energy compliance
  • Graduation from an accredited community college or formal education in construction-related disciplines, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be certifiable as a Chief Inspector within the applicable discipline by the Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals
  • Must demonstrate the ability to exercise independent judgment, interpret complex regulatory language, and communicate effectively with public officials, industry professionals, and the general public
