Job Description

At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a talented Director of Scheduling to join our dedicated team at our headquarters in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.

In this role, you will work with the Project Business Services (PBS) group and be responsible for the governance of schedule management across all EPCMV project phases - from early design through commissioning and validation. You will also be responsible for building a standardized, scalable, and predictive scheduling function that enables transparency, proactive risk mitigation, and performance benchmarking across the IPS portfolio.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the definition and execution of the company's PBS strategy.
  • Develop and deploy a comprehensive enterprise-wide scheduling strategy.
  • Establish standardized work breakdown structures (WBS), schedule coding structures, and milestone frameworks across all projects.
  • Define scheduling governance processes, including baseline controls, progress measurement, float analysis, and delay impact assessments.
  • Build, mentor, and scale a best-in-class scheduling team.
  • Represent the firm in key client presentations, industry forums, and thought-leadership initiatives.
  • Develop reporting and analytics dashboards (Power BI or similar) to support portfolio-level schedule health monitoring.
  • Implement standards for utilization of Lean Planning methodology within a CPM scheduling architecture.
  • Serve as scheduling SME for executive reviews, client engagements, and critical project recovery efforts.
  • Provide independent assurance to leadership on project timeline feasibility, sequencing, and readiness to execute.
  • Active participation in company-wide initiatives, including Digital Transformation, Data Management & Benchmarking, and Quality Management System.
  • Establish training, career development, and succession plans for scheduling professionals.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation in the scheduling team.
  • Collaborate with all groups to improve company processes, systems, and intellectual infrastructure to promote organizational learning and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • 15+ years of Planning & Scheduling experience, including 7+ years in a leadership capacity within EPCM or design-build firms.
  • Executive presence with ability to influence board-level decisions.
  • Proven capability to build, scale, and lead cross-regional teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of cGMP facilities, cleanrooms, labs, process utilities, and FDA/EMA regulatory requirements.
  • Strong understanding of the full EPCMV lifecycle and interdependencies between functions.
  • Experience in implementing enterprise schedule management frameworks and leading digital platform adoption.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Must possess the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required.
  • Must be able to climb ladders as necessary.

Work Environment

  • Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, which may include exposure to varying working conditions.
  • Must be able to adhere to strict cleanroom gowning protocol.

Travel

  • This position will have 20% travel, or as required by the assigned project.
  • You may be assigned to a client site for an extended period of time.
  • Overnight travel or staying in the city of the client's location is possible, depending on the assignment.
  • You will visit construction sites and will be required to take site safety training and adhere to site safety rules.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation.
  • Must have the ability to travel and commute on a daily or routine basis.

Safety

  • This position is a safety-sensitive position.
  • The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.
