Foley & Lardner LLP is seeking a talented associate to join the Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Practice in our Chicago office. Qualified applicants must have 2-5 years of experience advising clients on a broad range of ERISA and employee benefits matters, with a particular emphasis on ERISA Title I issues supporting funds formation and securitization transactions, as well as qualified retirement plans and health and welfare plan regulatory and compliance matters. Familiarity with benefits issues arising in transactional contexts, including private funds, investments, or financings, is strongly preferred.
The associate will support a growing national practice and will work closely with colleagues across the firm's corporate, finance, and capital markets teams. Responsibilities will include advising on ERISA Title I issues arising in connection with funds formation, securitization, and other investment related transactions, including prohibited transaction and fiduciary considerations. The associate will also counsel clients on the design, operation, and ongoing compliance of qualified retirement plans, including defined contribution and defined benefit plans, and will advise on health and welfare plan compliance matters involving medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and other welfare benefit arrangements. The associate will collaborate with colleagues in related practice areas to deliver integrated, practical advice to clients. The ideal candidate will have excellent legal research, drafting, and analytical skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage multiple matters in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. The position offers close partner interaction, meaningful responsibility, and the opportunity to support a diverse client base across industries. Strong academic credentials are required. Applicants must hold a JD from an ABA accredited law school and be active members in good standing of the Illinois Bar. Interested applicants should submit a resume and law school transcript. The expected salary range for this position is between $240,000 - $350,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, experience, internal pay equity at Foley, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
