Role Summary

The Enterprise Security Operations Program Manager, is responsible for providing operational leadership to advance Rivian's security program. This role promotes a proactive, consultative, and service-oriented security culture across Rivian's numerous and rapidly expanding facilities. The Program Manager supports site, regional, and enterprise readiness through security excellence, bridging the gap between Security Operations strategy and site-level execution.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned security professional who views technology as a force multiplier and possesses a deep background in ensuring the safety of people, assets, and facilities in a way that will keep our mission to keep the world adventurous forever.


Responsibilities

  • Build and sustain high-trust relationships with internal business units and external partners to co-create innovative security solutions that address emerging risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of forward-thinking policies, procedures, and protocols that scale with Rivian's global growth.
  • Collaborate on and deliver high-impact security awareness programs enterprise-wide, fostering a proactive safety mindset across all departments.
  • Translate complex operational data into concise, actionable insights and recommendations for senior leadership and key business partners.
  • Drive operational readiness to ensure 100% compliance with global and local regulations, including Workplace Violence Prevention standards and other industry-specific mandates.
  • Ability to lead security vulnerability assessments and audits, identifying gaps before they become incidents.
  • Manage guard service partnerships and the operational budgets, ensuring high-performance standards and fiscal accountability.
  • Maintain clear, accurate documentation throughout the operational lifecycle, and prepare concise updates and recommendations for security leadership and key business partners.
  • Implement and optimize security technologies to drive operational efficiency, using data-driven tools to automate and enhance site protection.
  • Be comfortable in providing high-level support for operational responses to global locations via virtual command and ICS and Rivian framework.
  • Quickly assimilate into the organizational culture and operate effectively with minimal direction in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. Thrives when directions and outcomes are unclear and priorities shift often.
  • Work on complex assignments requiring independent actions and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues.
  • Prioritize tasks and maximize the output of limited resources.

Qualifications

Years of Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Corporate Security, Law Enforcement, or Military Operations, with a significant focus on Security Operations and Program Management.
  • Experience working in complex, fast-paced environments requiring cross-functional coordination, regulatory alignment, and operational decision-making during incidents and readiness activities.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or the work equivalent in Security, Public Safety, Homeland Security,Emergency Management, previously POST certified or a related field.
  • Active membership in professional organizations such as ASIS International or the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) a plus.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) are highly desirable.

Communication:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to brief executive leadership on complex security matters.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.

Work Conditions

  • Flexibility - This role will require availability outside normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and short-notice response during emergencies, incidents, or operational disruptions.
  • Travel: Ability to travel ~25% of the time.

Pay Disclosure

The salary range for this role is USD 63,300 - 79,100 Georgia, Illinois and Michigan based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.

The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.

We offer a comprehensive package of benefits for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26, including but not limited to paid vacation, paid sick leave, and a competitive portfolio of insurance benefits including life, medical, dental, vision, short-term disability insurance, and long-term disability insurance to eligible employees. You may also have the opportunity to participate in Rivian's 401(k) Plan and Employee Stock Purchase Program if you meet certain eligibility requirements. Full-time employee coverage is effective on their first day of employment. Part-time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
