Senior Product Manager, Observability & Cloud Economics (FinOps)

Procore
United States, Texas, Austin
221 West 6th Street (Show on map)
Apr 23, 2026

Procore's global scale means our observability footprint is massive-and so is the bill. We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to solve a high-stakes puzzle: How do we provide 1,000+ engineers with world-class visibility into their services while maintaining industry-leading unit economics?

As a Senior Product Manager, you will lead a dual-track strategy: Efficiency (optimizing our current multi-million dollar spend) and Architecture (building the next generation of our self-service observability platform). You will be the primary link between Engineering, Product, Finance, and our major vendors to ensure every byte of data we ingest provides measurable business value.

This position reports to a Group Product Manager and will be based in our Austin, TX office. We're looking for someone to join us immediately.

What You'll Do:

  • Cost Attribution & Governance: Develop the systems to attribute observability spend down to the team and feature level. You'll make the "invisible" costs visible to every engineer.

  • Data Tiering & Lifecycle: Lead initiatives to optimize data retention and ingestion. You'll decide what we store in "hot" storage vs. "cold" logs to slash waste without losing troubleshooting power.

  • Vendor Negotiation: Serve as the technical lead for contract renewals with partners like Datadog, Splunk, or New Relic. You'll use data to drive aggressive, value-based negotiations.

  • Efficiency Programs: Identify and execute "quick wins"-such as eliminating redundant metrics or optimizing high-cardinality tags-that result in immediate six-figure savings.

  • Standardization via OpenTelemetry (OTel): Drive the transition to vendor-neutral standards. You'll build the "Golden Path" for instrumentation so that cost-efficiency is baked into the code by default.

  • Automated Guardrails: Define and deliver "cost-limiting" features within our platform to prevent accidental spend spikes before they happen (e.g., automated alerts for high-volume loggers).

  • Self-Service Discovery: Treat internal developers as your customers. Conduct deep discovery to build tooling that makes debugging faster, reducing Procore's Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR).

  • Architecture Strategy: Partner with Infrastructure Architects to decide when to "Buy" vs. "Build" (e.g., when to move to managed Prometheus/Cortex vs. SaaS solutions).

  • At Procore, AI isn't a specialized tool, it's a core competency. We expect every team member to be AI-literate, leveraging generative tools and agentic workflows to move faster and work smarter. You won't just use AI; you'll be building the agentic future of construction.

What we're looking for:

  • 5+ Years in Technical Product Management: You've managed infrastructure, platform, or developer tools at SaaS scale.

  • The "FinOps" Brain: You understand cloud billing better than most accountants. You can talk about "unit economics" and "marginal cost" in the same breath as "distributed tracing."

  • CNCF Fluency: You are deeply familiar with the OpenTelemetry ecosystem, Kubernetes, and the trade-offs of modern monitoring stacks.

  • Data-Driven Persuasion: You have a proven track record of convincing skeptical engineering teams to change their habits by showing them the data-backed ROI.

  • Analytical Power: Expertise in SQL, Grafana, or Tableau to build the dashboards that will run this "business within a business.
