Position Summary This work consists of quality-minded, efficient inspection, where required. Applications include validation of quality characteristics performed by Production classifications including the validation of Statistical Process Control (S.P.C.). These applications may be performed in areas where required, such as, but not limited to, Receiving, Processing, Detail, shipping, Sub Assembly, Final Assembly, and Experimental. Work assigned may include calibration of measuring equipment and inspection of mechanical, electronic, and hydraulic components, and use of measuring equipment as specified to perform these duties. An inspector must have the essential knowledge and ability to perform the following job functions as needed: reading part drawings, using shop mathematics, using work instructions and procedures, using different types of data collection systems, and computer work-aide systems, processing miscellaneous reports according to procedures, and using different types of measurement media. An inspector may use small hand tools such as grinders and drills to complete inspection work, performing minor rework as necessary. The inspector may be required to move material within his/her work area, using lifting equipment in the area. The inspector may be required to instruct others in this work. Some heavy lifting and carrying is required. The inspector is subject to general shop conditions (oil, cutting solutions, metal chips, etc.). The inspector may be required to sweep and clean his/her own work area. There is some danger from cuts or bruises.
