Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, Colorado's largest and most comprehensive provider of cancer care has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Patient Financial Counselor in Denver (Rose Medical Center Campus).

Salary Range: $18.29-$24.00

Responsibilities

The patient financial counselor (PFC) plays a vital role in supporting patients by providing clear, compassionate guidance regarding financial responsibilities related to their care. This position requires strong collaboration with internal teams, direct patient engagement, and a high level of organization to ensure timely and accurate financial processes. The PFC will work in a hybrid schedule and is expected to meet with patients both in person and virtually to discuss financial options and assist with payment solutions.

Patient Financial Counselor:

  • Meet with patients to review and explain insurance coverage, estimated out-of-pocket costs, and financial responsibilities
  • Educate and assist patients with copay assistance programs, grants, and other financial resources
  • Collect patient balances in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Create and manage patient budget or payment plans tailored to individual needs
  • Document financial discussions and actions clearly and accurately in the appropriate system
  • Collaborate closely with front-end staff, billing, collections, and other revenue cycle team members to ensure continuity of care and financial accuracy
  • Ensure all assigned tasks are completed accurately and within established timelines
  • Maintain a task-oriented approach while balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Support team-based workflows and actively contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Position requires at least 3 years experience in healthcare financial counseling, patient accounts, billing, or revenue cycle strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage patients sensitively and professionally.
  • Have excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Must be comfortable communicating with medical professionals as an integral part of the care team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and time-management skills
  • Comfort with technology, EPM/EHR systems and financial platforms.

Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range for telephone contacts.
