Pharmacist


STGi is seeking qualified candidates for this position in connection with an active Request for Proposals (RFP). Hiring for this role is contingent upon STGi's selection as the successful awardee.



Position Summary:


The Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) is responsible for the overall clinical, operational, regulatory, and financial performance of the Pharmacy. This leader ensures the safe and effective dispensing of medications, maintains full compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, drives business growth, and fosters a resident centered culture focused on exceptional care and community engagement. The PIC serves as the primary license holder of record and assumes accountability for all pharmacy operations, staff performances, and regulatory standards.


Position Impact


The Pharmacist in Charge is the single point of accountability for pharmacy performances. This role directly influences resident safety, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, financial sustainability and community reputation.


Key Responsibilities


Regulatory & Compliance Oversight




  • Serve as the designated Pharmacist in Charge with the State Board of Pharmacy.






  • Ensure full compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws (DEA, HIPAA, CMS, Board of Pharmacy regulations).






  • Maintain required licenses, permits, and inspection readiness at all times.






  • Oversee controlled substance inventory management, documentation, and audit controls.






  • Implement and monitor policies and procedures to ensure legal and ethical operations.




Clinical Leadership




  • Ensure accurate dispensing and verification of prescriptions.






  • Provide patient counseling on medication usage, side effects, interactions, and adherence.






  • Lead immunization programs and clinical service initiatives.





  • Monitor medication therapy outcomes and promote safe medication practices.






  • Serve as a clinical resource for staff and healthcare partners.




Operational Management




  • Direct daily pharmacy workflow, staffing, and scheduling.






  • Optimize operational efficiency and productivity.






  • Manage inventory control, purchasing, and shrink prevention.






  • Oversee third party billing compliance and reimbursement process.






  • Implement process improvements and performance metrics.




Financial & Business Performance




  • Drive pharmacy profitability through revenue growth and expense management.






  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including script volume, margin, adherence rates, and clinical service utilization.






  • Identify new service lines and community outreach opportunities.






  • Develop strategies to improve patient retention and customer satisfaction.






  • Ensure financial accountability including payroll management and cost controls




People Leadership & Talent Development




  • Build strong relationships with residents, physicians, clinics, and community partners.






  • Address patient concerns and service recovery issues promptly.






  • Represent the pharmacy in community health events and outreach initiatives.






  • Promote pharmacy services including immunizations and preventative health programs.

Required Experience

Required Qualifications



  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy.






  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of practice.






  • Eligible to serve as Pharmacist in Charge per state regulations.






  • Immunization certification.






  • Current CPR/BLS certification.






  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy management system and third party billing.






  • Minimum 3-5 years of retail pharmacy experience (Leadership experience preferred).




Preferred Qualifications




  • Prior experience as a Pharmacist in Charge.






  • Experience in independent pharmacy operations.






  • Multi site oversight experience.






  • Strong understanding of pharmacy financial management.






  • Experience with clinical program development.





Work Environment & Physical Requirements




  • Standing for extended periods.






  • Lifting up to 20 pounds.






  • Ability to manage a fast paced retail healthcare environment.
