Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Director of Continuing Dental Education within the Office of Continuing Dental Education at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (
RSDM).
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Program Director of Continuing Dental Education provides complex and confidential support services and assists in the is the development, direction, implementation and evaluation of continuing dental education programs. The Program Director of Continuing Dental Education is also responsible for assisting faculty and staff of
RSDM, and coordinating program budgets, schedules, facilities, publicity, logistics, etc. Additionally, the Program Director of Continuing Dental Education assists in directing clerical staff in coordinating a variety of administrative and confidential activities within the division.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Develops, recommends, and implements policies and plans for the operation, coordination and improvement of Continuing Dental Education programs.
- Performs long and short-range programmatic needs analyses. Determines need for revisions of existing and/or creation of new programs. Integrates proposed programs into the existing framework of educational activities.
- Assists in the determination of educational needs of dental related professionals in the areas of clinical, research, education, and administration.
- Develops and maintains relationships with members of the faculty to ensure appropriate interaction and communication.
- Assigns, supervises and evaluates the work of support staff. Recommends hiring, firing, performance reviews of staff.
- Assists in reviewing department procedures, materials, activities, and evaluation their administration, objectives, efficiency, effectiveness and suitability to current conditions, and cost accomplishments using established procedures and standards.
- Assists in the investigation and development of solutions to problem areas, identifies and works toward the elimination of unnecessary and/or wasteful administrative, research, or educational training practices; helps to determine where program and/or administration duplication may exist.
- Works with the Executive Director and RSDM Finance evaluate CDE accounting processes, reporting systems for assessing work performance, revenues, and expenditures and preparation of reports.
- Prepares budget plans for programming and operations and assists in evaluating budget requests and makes recommendations at the request of the Director.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in education, public administration, clinical trials research, or a health-related discipline.
- Total of Five (5) years of progressively more responsible experience in administration, education, or training, in which two (2) years of supervisory experience required.
- Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.

| Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Familiarity with health care delivery systems education of health professionals, continuing education accreditation and current issues in those fields, including but not limited to CEU/ CDE process.
- Must be PC literate and have experience with Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, Access and Canvas).
- Must be able to work early mornings (6:30 a.m.) and late evenings on some Wednesdays, Fridays and other days.
- Also, must be able to work nights and weekends (Saturday and Sunday once per month) to be present at continuing dental education activities in locations throughout the state, which may require overnight stays.
- Valid driver's license is required and must be able to drive to off-site locations.

- Familiarity with meeting registration software (Learning Stream) and Constant Contact is a plus.
- Three (3) years experience in Adult and Continuing Education for Health Professionals preferred.
