THE POSITION

The Luzerne - Wyoming County, Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is seeking a hard-working Aging Care Manager 3 to join our Protective Services team and assist senior citizens in obtaining the help and support they need stay active and safe. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this Aging Care Manager 3 position, you will serve as an Aging Protective Services Investigator. Your responsibilities will involve recording Reports of Need for Protective Services, determining the category and priority of need, and investigating all allegations within regulatory timeframes. This includes conducting face-to-face interviews with older adults, all collateral contacts, and the alleged perpetrator of the abuse to collect all necessary information as well as ensuring thorough, accurate documentation.

You will also collaborate with other agencies and entities in order to come to a conclusion in each case. These entities may include law enforcement, financial institutions, the medical community, domestic violence services, and other social services agencies and systems Your work will involve arranging for clients to receive various Aging services, assuring medical intervention, assisting with filing for court orders and actions, and completing other work to ensure the people we serve are protected and supported as needed.

You will also have the opportunity to volunteer for paid after-hours Protective Services crisis coverage and attend trainings to maximize the effectiveness of the care and services we provide. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Aging Care Manager 2 or Aging Program Assessor; or
  • One and one-half years of professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing experience; and a bachelor's degree in social sciences, behavioral sciences, human services, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes six months of professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing experience.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Luzerne and Wyoming counties. If no eligible candidates who live within Luzerne and Wyoming counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
