JOB SUMMARY
The Server/Bartender is a hybrid front-of-house position responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences through both table service and bar service. Team members in this role will work a combination of server and bartender shifts depending on operational needs, business volume, and scheduling requirements.
As a
Server, the position focuses on table service, menu knowledge, and anticipating guest needs to provide efficient and attentive dining experiences.
As a
Bartender, the role centers on preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, maintaining bar operations, and creating a welcoming environment for bar guests while supporting service staff.
Successful candidates must be comfortable performing both roles and demonstrate strong hospitality skills, beverage knowledge, and the ability to adapt to changing service environments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Guest Service & Table Service
- Set up for daily service including dishware, glassware, silverware, linens, and other amenities according to procedures and Restaurant General Manager's direction.
- Serve food and alcohol in accordance with Washington State Liquor & Cannabis Board and Washington State Health Department regulations.
- Provide attentive and timely table service, including serving and clearing courses and checking in with guests throughout their dining experience.
- Anticipate guest needs and maintain the highest level of customer service.
- Maintain strong knowledge of the menu including ingredients, preparation methods, and recommended pairings.
- Resolve guest complaints within scope of authority and refer issues to management when necessary.
- Assist with bussing and resetting tables during and after service.
Bar Service
- Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for bar guests and servers according to established procedures.
- Assess customer preferences and make beverage recommendations.
- Maintain clean glassware, bar equipment, and work areas.
- Arrange glasses and bottles into attractive and functional displays.
- Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies.
- Check identification to verify legal drinking age and ensure responsible alcohol service.
Operations & Compliance
- Record orders accurately in the POS system and process guest payments.
- Maintain clean service stations, equipment, and utensils.
- Complete side work and assist with stocking supplies and preparing backups as required.
- Ensure all equipment is accounted for and in good working condition, notifying management of issues.
- Determine when a guest should not be served additional alcohol in accordance with Washington State Liquor & Cannabis Board regulations.
- Adhere to all safety, sanitation, food preparation, food storage, and alcohol beverage control policies.
- Attend staff meetings as required by management.
- Act as a representative of Crystal Mountain with guests and community members.
- Abide by all Crystal Mountain employment guidelines and promote a positive, cooperative work environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 2 years professional experience in food and beverage service, including both bartending and serving experience preferred.
- Knowledge of mixing, garnishing, and serving beverages.
- Strong knowledge of guest service standards and restaurant operations.
- Basic knowledge of POS systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must hold a valid Washington M.A.S.T. Class 12 or 13 Permit.
- Must hold a valid Washington Food Worker Card.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position is required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays while in operation.
- Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 30 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to maneuver and tap a full-size keg (~160 pounds).
- Manual dexterity to operate computers, POS systems, and other equipment on a constant basis.
- Auditory and visual acuity to communicate with guests and staff and operate mobile devices and equipment.
- Ability to work for extended periods standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees.
