Essential Functions
Compliance
  • Work closely with the General Counsel on the implementation and enforcement of Company policies, procedures and guidelines for compliance with Code of Business Conduct and Ethics for Directors, Officers and Employees.
  • Work closely with the General Counsel on the implementation and enforcement of Company policies, procedures and guidelines for compliance with applicable laws, orders, rules and regulations, including those related to anti-competition, anti-money laundering, trade embargo, anti-boycott, export control requirements and the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
Regulatory
  • Work closely with General Counsel, Assistant General Counsel and Environmental Counsel on managing and addressing issues, risks and claims associated with the Company's compliance with federal and state safety and environmental laws and regulations and industry standards related to exploration and production operations.
Litigation
  • Legal advisor on litigation and risk management issues for EOG Resources, Inc. and the Divisions.
  • Reports to and works very closely with Assistant General Counsel in managing litigation for the Company and the Divisions.
  • Must be willing to travel to and work from the Division offices of EOG, as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for providing legal advice in a timely, team oriented and cost effective manner for EOG Resources, Inc. on compliance, regulatory, litigation and other legal matters.
  • Provide legal counsel to management regarding compliance with contractual, statutory, regulatory and other legal requirements, assist management in identifying legal and business issues and risks and provide creative alternatives to accomplish the business objectives.
  • Work and collaborate on transactional work teams to provide support on transactional matters in addressing attendant compliance, regulatory and legal matters.
  • Manage and coordinate claims and litigation that impact the client groups with internal and external litigation counsel.
  • Determine the appropriateness of utilizing outside legal counsel for legal advice, manage the work performed by outside legal counsel and manage the relationship and interaction between outside counsel and Company personnel.
  • Provide advice and support with regard to:
Compliance
  • Work on effective implementation of Code of Conduct compliance program
  • Assist and provide support on Code of Conduct investigations and other related matters
Regulatory Matters
  • The rules and regulations pertaining to EOG operations
Safety and Environmental
  • The Safety and Environment group's activities in connection with the Company's compliance with federal and state safety and environmental laws and regulations and industry standards related to exploration and production operations
Labor and Employment
  • Employment related matters that may arise in supporting Human Resources Department
  • Network with other attorneys, participate in continuing legal education programs and otherwise keep abreast of the legal and business developments impacting the Company's operations
  • Advise the General Counsel, Assistant General Counsel, and management of compliance, regulatory and oil and gas legal matters, assist in the overall provision of legal services to the Company and perform such other job-related duties and functions as requested by your supervisor or management


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
  • Relevant legal experience
  • Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills and the ability to provide concise, practical advice in a timely manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills: a team player who works effectively with others at all levels and in all disciplines in a team environment and is able to maintain a sense of humor and camaraderie in working with others
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Active member of the State Bar Association of Texas
Position will be filled at a level commensurate with experience.
