KPMG is currently seeking a Managing Director to join our Office of Government Affairs.

Responsibilities:
  • Represent KPMG and the accounting profession at the highest levels of state government and within influential industry organizations
  • Serve as KPMG's primary representative on The Accountants Coalition (TAC), developing and championing strategic policy positions on behalf of the firm and contributing to the coalition's mission of protecting the accounting, auditing and tax profession; assume leadership over a designated portfolio of states, acting as the primary strategic lead for all government affairs activities and stakeholder engagement in that region
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key partners such as the AICPA, NASBA, State Societies of CPAs and state Chambers of Commerce
  • Proactively identify, monitor, and analyze state-level legislative and regulatory proposals that could impact the profession and formulate sophisticated strategies to address them
  • Collaborate closely with internal KPMG leaders, partners and subject matter experts to ensure alignment on state government affairs strategies, including TAC activities for assigned region
  • Lead the internal policy formulation process and work toward consensus driven engagement with other TAC member firms
Qualifications:
  • Minimum fifteen years of recent experience in high-level state government affairs, public policy or a related field at a corporation/partnership, trade association or law firm
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college is required; a Juris Doctor (J.D.), Master of Public Policy (M.P.P.) or other advanced degree is highly desirable
  • Extensive experience working with or for a large, matrixed organization, preferably in professional services or a highly regulated industry
  • Demonstrated track record of successful advocacy and building strategic alliances in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Unparalleled communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues with clarity, precision and influence
  • Capacity to analyze complex situations, anticipate future trends and develop proactive, long-range plans
  • Commitment of up to 50% travel and an awareness of the AI community and its application in KPMG's agile work environment
