Job Description




As a Security Officer - MetroLink in St. Clair County, IL, Working in conjunction with a Metropolitan Transit Task Force and our client security teams. MetroLink security professionals provide safety and security of riders on the transit light rail system, station platforms throughout the Greater St. Louis region. Customer service skills are a high priority. This is an outdoor posted position. Duties will include post security until relieved.

Position Type: Part Time MetroLink, St. Clair County, IL

Each candidate must have achieved at least one of the following
to qualify:
    Military service that included law enforcement or security duties (e.g., military police, elite military forces, and combat arms) or support in a combat zone
  • Eight years' active service in any military branch
  • Bachelor's degree in law enforcement or criminal justice
  • Associate degree in law enforcement or criminal justice with current or prior active military service
  • Graduation from a certified public safety academy in law enforcement, adult corrections, or firefighting

Position Type: Full Time

Pay Rate: $22.00 / Hour

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to employees, visitors, and the public at a government location by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or policy violations; working environments and conditions may vary by site.
  • Monitor entrances, perform access control and visitor processing, and verify identification and/or credentials in accordance with post orders.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalation, notifications, and coordination with site contacts and public responders when needed.
  • Complete written and electronic reports such as daily activity logs, incident reports, and patrol documentation, and communicate observations to the appropriate personnel.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have 3+ years' combined law enforcement/military/security experience OR a college degree.
  • Have 1+ years of security experience.
  • Be 21+ years of age.
  • Ability to lift more than 20 lbs is preferred.
  • Experience with handcuffs, pepper spray, and/or baton is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
