Overview

Northwood Technical College is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a full-time Financial Aid Associate at the New Richmond Campus.

Under the direction and supervision of the Director, Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Associate contributes to the efficient and responsive operation of the Northwood Tech Financial Aid Program. This position provides important processing, support, and student assistance with financial aid at the Northwood Tech campuses and collegewide support for processing functions.

  • Interpret and apply federal and state regulations and institutional policies governing the application, awarding, and distribution of student financial aid.
  • Communicate complex eligibility requirements, award information, and regulatory guidance to students and families in a clear, accurate, and supportive manner.
  • Explain college policies and procedures in interactions with students, parents, and external agencies.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge of federal and state regulations and changes to financial aid programs.
  • Utilize student information systems, federal and state financial aid platforms, and Microsoft Office to perform daily responsibilities.
  • Review financial aid applications and supporting documentation to verify accuracy of financial and household information.
  • Calculate and process financial aid packages, including grants, loans, and workstudy, and ensure all awards are correct.
  • Monitor and adjust awards based on enrollment changes, program changes, external funding, scholarships, and other factors.
  • Perform repayment and returnoffunds calculations in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Complete assigned tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, even in a fastpaced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Develop materials and deliver financial aid presentations to student groups, campus partners, and community audiences as needed.
  • Assist with the coordination of the federal work study employment program.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of office procedures and policies to support efficient and compliant operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Degree & Experience Required:

  • Two years post-secondary education in a related field
  • One-year related work experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite and the ability to effectively apply technology to tasks and projects
  • Ability to contribute to a team environment while maintaining positivity and professionalism
  • Strong customer service skills that focus on creative problem solving
  • Time management skills that apply organization and prioritization demonstrating the ability to multitask and work independently
  • Ability to obtain driver's license and insurance coverage in accordance with College policy


Salary

FY26 Salary - Grade I - $23.79 / hour
