Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Provides strategic direction and oversight for cards, payments, and related products and services, ensuring alignment with the credit union's overall objectives and growth targets. Utilizes competitive analysis and market insights to identify new opportunities and foster the integration of innovative solutions.
  • Results Delivery: Drives the achievement of organizational OKRs and growth goals by completing projects on schedule and advancing business objectives. Leads the adoption and implementation of advanced technologies to strengthen product capabilities and operational effectiveness. Promotes continual professional development and skill enhancement within the team for technological advancement.


  • Innovation Management: Champions innovation in cards and payments, ensuring the credit union remains a leader in payments and card technology, including artificial intelligence advancements.


  • Payment Systems Oversight: Manages and optimizes payment systems (ACH, wire transfers, bill pay, mobile payments, FedNow, RTP, Zelle, cards/disputes, and emerging technologies) to ensure efficiency, security, and compliance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works collaboratively across departments to ensure the success and effectiveness of initiatives. Influences others through education and partnership.
  • Operational Efficiency: Continuously evaluates and enhances operational processes, systems, and workflows to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and elevate the member experience.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensures all payment and deposit activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices. Identifies and mitigates risks through effective controls and monitoring.
  • Team Leadership: Builds and leads a high-performing team by providing guidance, mentorship, and opportunities for professional growth. Holds team members accountable for performance.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Collaborates with executives, cross-functional teams, and business partners to ensure alignment and successful execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Industry Awareness: Keeps current with trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes in the financial services and payments sector. Applies this knowledge to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.


  • Strategic Planning Participation: Actively participates in organizational strategic planning, proactively shaping new strategies by anticipating future needs.
  • Vision Alignment: Ensures all team members understand and align their goals with the company's strategic vision.
  • Policy Adherence: Ensures activities are conducted in accordance with established credit union standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Executive Communication: Keeps executive management informed about cards and payments activities and progress toward objectives.
  • Team Support: Provides assistance and support to department team members, ensuring questions and problems are resolved courteously and professionally.

    Education
    Bachelors of Business Administration (required)
    Experience
    7 years: Minimum of 7+ years of leadership experience in deposit operations, product management, payments, information technology, or related roles within the financial services industry. (required)
    Strong knowledge of cards, payment systems, and industry regulations. (required)
    Proficient in credit union systems including Meridian Link, Visa DPS, and Symitar. (required)
    Significant system/technical experience desired. (required)
    Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, systems, product development, and project management. (required)
    Proven track record of driving operational efficiency and process improvement initiatives. (required)
    Sound understanding of risk management principles and compliance requirements. (required)
    Computer proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Internet, and Email. (required)
