Civil Engineer

BB&E is an employee-owned, full-service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both the Federal and Industrial sectors throughout the United States. BB&E team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering, and Program/Project Management Services to the Federal and private sectors.

BB&E is seeking a Civil Engineer to provide technical design support for mission-critical requirements associated with ongoing and future infrastructure and facility projects at USSS-protected sites throughout the continental United States (CONUS). The engineer will provide specialized engineering support services, including technical planning, coordination, and oversight of engineering activities to ensure the seamless integration of protective equipment, materials, and infrastructure into ongoing and future projects. This role will be on-site in Washington, DC.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary architecture/engineering/construction teams, third-party contractors, and other government agencies to advance the USSS protective mission.
• Utilize drawings, specifications, photographs, and other information to support projects to assess and improve site and building security.
• Review and provide comments on deliverables for analysis, design, and construction projects.
• Coordinate with program managers to develop, maintain, and update the program's strategy, budgeting, scheduling, and planning documents, as well as documentation of meetings and past activities.
• Engage and communicate with internal and external stakeholders, third-party contractors, and other government agencies to plan and execute design and construction projects.
• Coordinate with program managers to develop Scopes of Work and prepare contract packages for future acquisitions.
• Develop, organize, and manage files and documents.
• Conduct independent research on project needs, including but not limited to:
• Historical events related to the construction project.
• Provide summaries, presentations, and/or reports documenting the findings of the research

Requirements

• Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required; Must possess a valid TOP Secret Security clearance
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Project.
• Experience with reviewing and understanding construction drawings, construction specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams

• Experience: A Minimum of 10 years of experience in the planning, design, analysis, and construction management of civil engineering projects, including site development and infrastructure for secure or mission-critical facilities
• Education: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited college (master's degree and/or Professional Engineer license preferred).

• Ability to stand/walk/climb/kneel/crouch and remain in a stationary position/sit at least 60% of the time.
• Ability to operate office equipment, including computer, copy machine, phone, etc.
• Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms.
• Capable of lifting up to 10 lbs.
• Ability to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
• Ability to understand the speech of another person, speak clearly so listeners can understand, and talk or hear both in person and by telephone.
