Boys Town is seeking a Cloud Architect to join our Converged Infrastructure team. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing secure, scalable, and high performing cloud solutions that support organizational goals. This role partners closely with IT, security, engineering, and business stakeholders to develop cloud architectures, migrate applications, and ensure long term operational excellence across cloud environments. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, modern application design, networking, security best practices, and automation. They will evaluate new technologies, establish architecture standards, and guide teams in adopting cloud-native capabilities. This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions, and a strategic mindset focused on resilience, efficiency, and cost optimization.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. We are not offering sponsorship to applicants for employment visa status. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Architects solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Uses Infrastructure as Code to build reusable components and automation.
  • Creates blueprints and roadmaps for cloud-based systems tailored to business requirements.
  • Selects platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), tools, and infrastructure to optimize performance, reliability, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Oversees migration of applications and services to the cloud with minimal downtime and data loss.
  • Conducts Proof of Concept (POC) trials for innovative cloud solutions.
  • Architects secure environments with IAM, encryption, and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCIDSS).
  • Monitors and finetunes workloads for speed and resource utilization.
  • Applies cost-management tactics to maximize ROI.
  • Defines and enforces cloud standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Maintains detailed documentation, e.g., architecture diagrams, configurations, policies.
  • Consults with business, technical teams, and vendors to ensure solutions meet strategic goals.
  • Manages vendor relationships: selection, performance evaluation, and renegotiation.
  • Guides teams of cloud engineers, developers, and DevOps staff on architecture and best practices.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Proficient with public cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP (compute, networking, storage, serverless).
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) and CI/CD pipeline expertise.
  • Container orchestration (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Helm, ArgoCD).
  • Solid background in networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, LB, subnetting).
  • Security essentials: IAM, encryption, firewall, identity management.
  • Strong communicator: able to translate technical concepts and document processes clearly.
  • Leadership and project management across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Analytical problem solver-identifies bottlenecks and delivers remediation plans
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud-native application and infrastructure architecture required.
  • Hands-on experience in security, compliance, and regulatory environments required.
  • On-call work to provide additional support and/or may require work to be performed outside of traditional business hours including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Relevant cloud certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate/ Professional), Microsoft Azure Solution Architect Expert, or Google Professional Cloud Architect or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Position may require moderate physical activity including pulling and running cable. Handling of average weight objects 20 pounds and up to 50 pounds on occasion, standing, walking, kneeling, or at a keyboard, workstation, or desk. Requires agility to work in crawl spaces and on ladders.Work is typically in a normal office administrative or computer environment involving minimal exposure to physical risks, but may also spend time working in small, confined spaces or at heights of ten feet or greater with exposure to dust, noise, electrical systems, and excessively hot or cold temperatures.
