Position Description
This is a high-visibility, strategic quality engineering role supporting mission-critical electro-mechanical and electrical systems for defense and commercial aerospace OEM customers. The Quality Assurance Engineer will serve as the technical authority for electrical quality, partnering with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Program Management to ensure compliant, reliable, and customer-aligned product performance from development through production.
Essential Functions
* Lead customer-facing 8D/RCCA responses for OEM and defense programs, ensuring timely and systemic corrective action closure.
* Interface directly with OEM quality representatives and government agencies such as Defense Contract Management Agency and Defense Contract Audit Agency as required.
* Interpret technical data packages, specifications, and quality clauses to ensure robust implementation throughout the product lifecycle.
* Develop and continuously improve electrical inspection and test methodologies, ensuring alignment with engineering intent, regulatory standards, and program risk objectives.
* Lead Material Review Board (MRB) activities for non-conforming electrical and electro-mechanical hardware, ensuring technically sound, risk-based disposition decisions.
* Lead and support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities in accordance with AS9102 and contractual flow-down requirements.
* Plan and conduct internal and external audits in accordance with AS9100 and customer-specific requirements; drive corrective actions to effective closure.
* Serve as the technical authority for electrical inspection criteria, validation methods, and acceptance standards.
* Analyze electrical performance and quality data using statistical methods to identify trends, mitigate systemic risk, and improve product reliability.
* Proactively identify and mitigate quality risk at the design, supplier, and manufacturing levels, including participation in new product and design transfer activities.
Critical Competencies
* Ability to drive systemic quality improvements across programs and product lines.
* Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, GD&T drawings, and technical data packages.
* Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, regulated, multi-program environments.
* Experience interfacing with OEM customers and government agencies such as Defense Contract Management Agency and Defense Contract Audit Agency.
Required Experience
* Bachelor's Degree, Engineering degree preferred, or equivalent education and experience.
* 4+ years of progressive Quality Engineering experience in aerospace or defense environments, including direct experience supporting OEM customers.
* Demonstrated experience supporting AS9100-certified environments and government-regulated programs.
* Six Sigma Greenbelt or Black Belt certifications preferred
* Must be able to work on U.S. government programs and/or obtain security clearance in the future
* Must be a U.S. Citizen
