Summary Job Description: Job Summary: The Baptist Health Medical Group (BHMG) APC reflects the mission, vision, and values of BHMG adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. The APC functions autonomously and collaborates with other health professionals to provide high quality, cost effective care to patients, manages health care systems and influence health care decision-making through expert clinical reasoning, research, theory-based practice. The APC is responsible for providing direct patient care as part of the physician led team in accordance with State Law and approved Medical Staff privileges. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: This document defines major job responsibilities and performance expectations and serves as a tool for performance evaluation. However, it is not intended to be all-inclusive as other duties may be assigned as necessary.
- Provides daily medical management and treatment of patients at the Practice.
- Provides clinical services to patients, including diagnosis, treatment and referrals to other providers to ensure appropriate coordination and continuity of care.
- Participates in the establishment of and complies with BMA/BCHS policies, procedures, guidelines, and medical protocol necessary to provide patient care.
- May perform physical exams to include, but not limited to: Routine examinations, Department of Transportation (DOT) examinations, Post-Offer Examinations, Executive Physicals, and Annual Examinations.
- Complies with BMA/BCHS policies, procedures and pricing.
- Utilizes program forms/computer system for charting.
- Complies with case management protocols.
- Agrees to assist with the Practice's quality assurance and quality improvement plan.
- Works with Administration to ensure that the Practice operates in a manner consistent with appropriate medical policy and current professional standards.
- Participates in community events and periodic marketing activities as time permits. It is understood that, on occasion, these duties may fall outside of regularly scheduled office hours.
- Maintains appropriate telephone contact with patients, payers and pharmacies.
- Provides documentation that reflects the patient services actually performed and assigns CPT and diagnosis codes that are reflective of such patient services.
- Works with Collaborative Physician and/or Medical Director to ensure correct protocol and procedures are followed.
- Maintains CPR Certification.
- Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:
- 1. Bachelor's degree and successful completion of accredited APC program.
2. Terminal degree in APC field preferred. National certification from the appropriate national certifying agency for the particular APC. 3. Must maintain national certification. 4. Eligible at all times to be insured for professional liability. 5. Current valid and unrestricted license to practice as an APC in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. 6. BCLS required through the American Heart Association.
