DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will offer technical guidance, support, and research while adhering to internal protocols to advance the objectives of the PA State Fire Academy Certification Department. Your role will involve collaboration with certification staff, contributing to the development of public-facing programs, processing reports, entering data, ensuring quality assurance, and managing submissions from external partners. Additionally, you will support various initiatives, including the Evaluator program, maintaining relationships with Field Test Sites and Delegated Authorities, and overseeing testing and certification processes, along with other assigned projects. Strong communication skills, proficiency with standard office equipment and computing, organizational abilities, and the capacity to perform under pressure are essential. You should also be capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling various office files and equipment as needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • In the event of an emergency/disaster situation or training exercise, this position may be required to travel, work up to 12-hour shifts, and work outside of the normal work hours, including weekends and overnights.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time upon successful completion of a training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Lewistown. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $59,345 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of professional experience in planning, developing, coordinating, or promoting fire services, emergency management, or public safety programs; and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of professional experience in the planning, development, coordination, or promotion of fire services, emergency management, or public safety programs.
