DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will maintain and control the operation of the central steam generating plant, which supplies steam heat and hot water to buildings within the hospital complex. Your work will involve performing operational repairs, as well as utilizing electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls to determine adjustments or corrections necessary for proper boiler operations. You will observe and note readings on gauges and meters, detect danger signals in operations, and make proper adjustments and repairs. Some of your duties will also include directing lower-level workers to test water and determine which treatment and chemicals are needed. Additionally, you will aid in the maintenance of grounds, including operating groundskeeping equipment and other seasonal work. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment
- Work hours will be as follows, on a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- 3rd shift: 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a shift differential of $1.15 per hour
- Overtime as needed, travel as needed for training
- Free parking!
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six months of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment.
Special Requirement:
- This position requires possession of an active Class C motor vehicle license.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
