Job Description




As a Security Officer - Unarmed School Rover in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a dynamic education location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and stay highly visible to help to deter security-related incidents. You will respond to calls for assistance, report concerns clearly, and deliver welcoming customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and/or contractors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and/or requests for assistance in a calm, problem-solving manner, and escalate concerns through the appropriate chain of command.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of academic buildings, residence areas, common spaces, and perimeter areas to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or policy violations.
  • Monitor access points and assist with access control by checking identification, verifying authorization, and directing individuals to the proper location or department.
  • Complete routine checks of doors, gates, classrooms, labs, offices, and/or other assigned areas to identify unsecured conditions or suspicious activity and report findings.
  • Observe and report hazards, maintenance issues, and/or environmental concerns that could impact operations, and notify site contacts as directed.
  • Write clear, timely incident reports, daily activity logs, and/or other required documentation using company and site reporting systems.
  • Provide directions and general assistance, help coordinate with campus departments during events, and support orderly movement of people during high-traffic periods.
  • Communicate with site personnel and/or public service partners as needed, using radios, phones, and/or other assigned communication tools.
  • Follow post orders, complete required tours, and participate in briefings and/or trainings to maintain readiness for routine and emergency situations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • A guard card/license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
