POSITION SUMMARY

Assist the Maintenance Manager through hands-on supervision and management of maintenance operations and grounds for a three-shift textile production mill. Direct, train, develop, and evaluate Bargaining Unit maintenance employees, including providing input regarding employment status. Ensure maintenance operations support safe, efficient, and reliable production while maintaining compliance with company policies and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

  • Preventive Maintenance (PM) Compliance: 95% on-time completion
  • Unplanned Downtime Reduction: Year-over-year reduction in unplanned downtime hours
  • Safety & Compliance Performance: Zero preventable safety incidents
  • Work Order Execution & Communication: 98% accurate and timely work order closure

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  • Promote a safe working environment by training and supervising employees in safe work practices and correcting unsafe conditions
  • Assess, coach, and develop technical skills across the maintenance team using formal and hands-on training methods
  • Ensure security and protection of company property through inspection and maintenance of sprinkler systems and fire protection equipment
  • Inspect buildings, infrastructure, and equipment for needed repairs and supervise maintenance work
  • Ensure proper functioning of heating and cooling systems by inspecting and supervising repairs and adjustments
  • Ensure adequate steam supply through supervision of boiler operations
  • Control maintenance costs by planning, prioritizing, scheduling, and monitoring work projects to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
  • Reduce downtime through effective preventive maintenance programs and timely equipment repairs
  • Maintain and execute CMMS procedures, prioritizing and closing work orders by urgency and deadlines
  • Communicate all Production-Stopped or Safety-Danger work orders not completed by end of shift verbally and within the CMMS prior to end of day
  • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities with the Maintenance Manager and Production leadership
  • Analyze equipment and facility issues, determine root causes, and prepare corrective or preventive action reports as needed
  • Develop, update, and maintain work instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Administer the Collective Bargaining Agreement, company policies, and work rules consistently and fairly
  • Schedule and manage people, processes, and projects using LEAN principles
  • Anticipate a 40-50 hour work week with after-hours and weekend availability as required
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in a textile manufacturing or continuous-process production environment
  • Hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting boiler operations
  • Experience working within an ISO 9001:2015 or equivalent Quality Management System
  • Demonstrated application of LEAN principles in maintenance or operations
  • Technical certifications, vocational training, or equivalent advanced maintenance training
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered

SYSTEM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with ERP and CMMS systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with manufacturing Quality Management Systems
  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project)
  • Working knowledge of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD or SolidWorks) preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and move throughout the production mill
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Work performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, dust, chemicals, heat, and steam
  • Required to comply with OSHA safety regulations and company safety programs, including lockout/tagout and hazard communication
  • Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing, eye, hand protection, and steel-toed footwear
  • Sufficient visual acuity and manual dexterity to inspect equipment, read gauges and documentation, and perform maintenance tasks
