The Opportunity

The portfolio and governance analyst role will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing MRSNA's portfolio processes, and ensuring proper governance and development of best practices for the portfolio framework. This involves monitoring portfolio performance, working with colleagues to help develop content required by the framework and ensuring, adherence to governance processes. Additionally, this role will be responsible for developing and generating reports and presenting findings to Head of Portfolio and stakeholders at all levels. This role must work closely with counterparts in IT, Transformation/Engagement teams to coordinate MRSNA Portfolio updates and govern the Portfolio Framework. This role reports to the Head of Portfolio Management.

Responsibilities

In this position you will:

Portfolio Processes & Governance:

  • Drive and monitor the governance processes for the Portfolio Framework and best practices while continuously improving the maturity of the portfolio framework.
  • Improve, analyze and evaluate the portfolio performance KPIs to develop insights on portfolio effectiveness and outcomes.
  • Assist in gathering Portfolio items/project related data and information in support of the Portfolio Manager and provide suggestions on action items.
  • Support in the management, development and disbursement of Portfolio Knowledge. Including training materials, templates, communication.
  • Drive portfolio analytics by collaborating with IT PMO on financials and improving IT data coordination.
  • Assist in timely preparation and distribution of meeting packs to necessary stakeholders and forums.
  • Assist in building and implementing a Business Capacity Management methodology to assist in prioritizing activities at various stages in the Portfolio.
  • Collaborate with business owners and team leads to identify resource capacity requirements. Generate reporting to create transparency and alignment with organizational priorities.

Data Management and Analytics:

  • Manage and optimize portfolio database ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Design and maintain dashboards and reporting tools using PowerBI, PowerApps, and Sharepoint.
  • Perform project portfolio analytics to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Develop insights and actionable recommendations for senior leadership.

Management, Reporting and Communication:

  • Management, development and administration of portfolio items (Excel, Sharepoint, MS PowerApps, Power BI and other portfolio management software) and any publication of portfolio, where applicable.
  • Combination of designing, producing and ongoing improvement of relevant and insightful MI on Portfolio performance and trends which can be used for operational and SteerCo purposes.
  • Develop reporting on specific portfolio components for GSI
  • Drive development of meeting packs for leadership forums.
  • Drive governance processes and delivery insights that shape portfolio priorities and resource allocation

Qualifications

Successful candidates will possess the following experience/skills/qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in portfolio management, data analytics, or business intelligence roles.
  • Experience in commercial insurance or financial services a plus, but not mandatory..
  • Strong technical aptitude with data visualization tools and database management.
  • Strong and proven analytical skills with ability to interpret data, identify trends and make recommendations
  • Experience optimizing data visualization, business intelligence and data governance a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proactive, self-starter with a high degree of organization, personal accountability and comfort managing multiple tasks effectively.
  • High degree of proficiency in MS tool suite (Office, Power BI, Power Apps).
  • Experience with portfolio management tools and BI platforms (PowerBI, Tableau, or similar).
  • Experience in lean process improvement initiatives and/or resource management, a plus.
  • Understanding of insurance products, processes / workflows a plus.
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Certifications a plus: PMP or PfMP. Data Analytic certifications.

The Company is open to considering candidates in numerous locations, including Princeton (NJ), New York City (NY), and Philadelphia (PA). The salary range posted below reflects market variations across various locations. The offer will be adjusted per geography.

The base salary range anticipated for this position is $88,400-$140,900, plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).

The salary estimate is adjusted to reflect the varying market conditions across different locations, with the with the higher end being more aligned with the New York City job market. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
