Aon is Looking for an Associate Director, Climate Risk Advisory

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Chicago, Boston, New York City or San Francisco office

What the day will look like

Aon's Climate Risk Advisory provides physical and transition risk diagnostics, consulting, and risk transfer solutions to clients around the globe. The Climate Risk Advisory is comprised of 30+ climate experts across regions, solutions, and industries and, critically, is embedded within Aon's core business, leveraging 100+ modelers, 40+ full-time scientists and engineers, and thousands of industry and regional experts. The advisory team delivers tailored solutions and climate insight, empowering clients to make better decisions about their climate-related risks.

The Associate Director serves as a technical specialist supporting Climate Risk Assessment workflows and project delivery for a wide range of clients, including power, renewable energy, digital infrastructure, and insurance. The Associate Director will be expected to: understand client needs through engagement with clients and relationships established with Aon account executives and producers, build and improve efficiency of client-focused workflows and supporting processes, assist in proposal development, and present findings to clients.

This position requires extensive experience and developed skills in physical risk assessment with a strong appreciation for analytics. The role will develop and improve team processes to best support clients' complex and evolving challenges.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a technical leader for Climate Risk Assessment workflows, enhancing project delivery and client engagement across North America for the suite of Climate Risk Advisory (CRA) propositions.
  • Work with Aon colleagues to identify growth opportunities, develop and refine client playbooks.
  • Develop expansion of services and enhance the team's value propositions working closely with the climate consulting leadership team.
  • Support client presentation and project proposal development and delivery.
  • Execute multiple work assignments, flexibly balancing priorities, to meet or exceed the expectations of our clients and colleagues, including the creation of project plans with detailed timelines and key delivery check points.
  • Foster engagement between account executives and in-region client delivery teams to ensure solutions and services align with client goals and needs; maintain effective relationships with Aon teams and clients and identify patterns to best inform solutioning
  • Assist in the overall team effort for knowledge and best practices to be disseminated.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Minimum of 7 years relevant work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of physical risk modeling (catastrophe and/or climate models).
  • Expertise in data preparation and processing, mapping and visualization (Python, Data Bricks, SQL, Tableau, PowerBI, ArcMap, QGIS, etc.), and translating outputs into meaningful insights.
  • Strong understanding of the risk consulting business.
  • Ability to write complex reports and business correspondence, and document processes.
  • Strong ability to simplify complex concepts for different audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team-oriented approach.
  • Commitment to client service and business ethics.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Data Science, a related field or equivalent years of industry experience.

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $135,000 to $175,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
