OSP Fiber Technician (Aerial) - 80% Travel Position Type: Full-Time Travel Requirement: Up to 80% Department: OSP Construction / Telecom Location: Travel-based (home base flexible) About the Role We are seeking an experienced OSP Fiber Technician with strong experience in aerial fiber installation, maintenance, and testing. This role is highly travelfocused and ideal for a technician who thrives in the field, enjoys hands-on work at elevation, and takes pride in delivering high-quality fiber infrastructure. Key Responsibilities * Perform aerial fiber optic construction, including strand placement, lashing, pole transfers, and aerial installations. * Conduct fiber testing and troubleshooting using OTDR, light source/power meter, and other industry-standard tools. * Complete fiber splicing (single-mode and multimode) when required. * Read and interpret OSP construction prints, maps, and engineered drawings. * Perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs on aerial fiber plant. * Ensure all work adheres to safety standards, industry codes, and company quality expectations. * Work independently or on a crew in various field conditions, including heights and outdoor environments. * Travel to job sites across multiple regions (80%+ travel required). Required Qualifications * 2+ years of OSP fiber experience (aerial preferred). * Strong working knowledge of aerial construction techniques and equipment. * Proficiency in fiber testing, including OTDR, power meter, and light source testing. * Experience working at heights using bucket trucks, ladders, and climbing gear. * Valid driver's license and clean driving record. * Ability to travel extensively and work in the field for extended periods. Preferred Skills * Fiber splicing experience (fusion splicing, ribbon splicing, hardware installation). * Knowledge of NESC standards and utility pole communication space requirements. * Familiarity with make-ready, pole loading, or aerial permitting. * CDL or bucket truck experience.
